ommitted depending on whether any songs are not used in the

3. the show may be performed with some actors playing two
or more roles.

Asparagus
(Gus) -
Tom; Senior; Grey and brown; the “theatre
cat”;
storyteller
Asparagus
- Tom; Adult; tan black and white; the “younger
Gus”
Bombalurina -
Queen; Adult; Red and white; Fastest runner of the queens;
sister of Demeter; saucy; sings duet with Demeter
Bustopher Jones -
Tom; Adult Senior; Black and white, A fat cat, a
"twenty-five pounder." Dresses in a snappy tuxedo and
spats. Respected by all, as the upper class "St James'
Street Cat."
Demeter -
Queen; Young Adult; Black and gold tabby; Second highest
jumper of the Jellicles; Sister of Bombalurina; A very
skittish female cat. While the other cats are jubilant with
Old Deuteronomy's return, Demeter realizes something is
wrong and unmasks Macavity in disguise
Griddlebone -
Queen; Adult; All white, long fur; Considered one of the
"Seacats"; A fluffy white Persian cat, and Growltiger's
lover in "Growltiger's Last Stand," where she sings "The
Ballad of Billy M'caw" or the mock Italian aria "In Una
Tepida Notte" (depending on production) with Growltiger.
Grizabella
-
Queen; Adult Senior; Grey, brown, and black; The former
Glamour Cat who has lost her sparkle and now only wants to
be accepted. Grizabella left the tribe when she was younger
to see the world for herself. In doing so she faced the
harshness of the outside world, as well as the equally
harsh status of pariah in the cats'
society.
Growltiger -
Tom; Adult; Orange, black and white tabby; Captain of own
ship; Enemy of Ghengis; A theatrical character Gus recalls
playing in his youth, and who appears in Gus' memory of the
production of "Growltiger's Last Stand." In some
productions he is portrayed as a vicious pirate; in others
he's more of a parody of a pirate. Does not appear in
productions which omit "Growltiger's Last
Stand."
Jellylorum -
Queen; Adult; Yellow, White, and Brown; A female who
watches out for the kittens, along with Jennyanydots. She
has a close relationship with Gus. Named after T. S.
Eliot's own cat.
Jennyanydots -
Queen; Adult Senior; Orange and white tabby with some
spots; Like a mother to the kittens; The old Gumbie cat.
She sits all day and rules the mice and cockroaches at
night, forcing them to undertake helpful or useful
functions, or creative projects, to curb their naturally
destructive habits.
Mr. Mistoffelees -
Tom; Young Adult; All black with exception of a small white
bib; Age is unsure. It is only guessed that he is a young
adult; Expert illusionist; aloof; Third highest jumper of
the Jellicle's; Brother to Quaxo*; A young tom with magical
powers. His signature dance move is "The Conjuring Turn,"
twenty-four fouettés en tournant. In some productions,
*Mistoffelees has an alter-ego named Quaxo, who appears as
a general chorus cat throughout the show, and is dressed
slightly differently. In other productions Quaxo is a
separate character. He is also capable of creating seven
kittens right out of a hat, and magically switching any two
cat's places. A most useful spell when Old Deuteronomy is
captured by Macavity.
Mungojerrie -
Tom; Young Adult; Orange and black tabby; Second fastest
runner of the Jellicles; Half of a pair of notorious
cat-burglars, with Rumpleteazer. Mungojerrie and
Rumpleteazer are most commonly remembered for their unique
dance number where at the end, they both latch onto each
other and do a "double windmill" across the
stage.
Munkustrap -
Tom; Adult; Silver and black tabby; Second in line for
leadership; second best wrestler of the Jellicles; The
show's de facto narrator. A black and silver tom who is
storyteller and protector of the Jellicle tribe. He is
thought to be second in command after Old
Deuteronomy.
Old Deuteronomy -
Tom; Senior; About 5'4" tall, large,long grey fur; Leader
of the Jellicles; The lovable patriarch of the Jellicle
Tribe. He is very old and dignified.
Rumpleteazer -
Queen; Young Adult; Calico queen with stripes of black
orange & brown on a reddish base coat; Third fastest
runner of the Jellicle queens; Very hyper and giggly;
Female half of a pair of notorious cat-burglars, with
Mungojerrie.
The Rum Tum Tugger -
Tom; Adult; Brown; Fastest runner of the Jellicles; Could
be third in line of leadership, but seems to avoid
responsibility at times. The “Rocker”.
The ladies' tom. His temperament ranges from clownish to
serious; however, he is always flirtatious, and usually
portrayed as a feline equivalent of Mick Jagger or Elvis
Presley, and recognisable by his wild
mane.
Skimbleshanks -
Tom; Adult Senior; Brown and white; Considered to be like
an uncle to all the Jellicle's. The “Railway
Cat”;
An active orange tabby cat, who lives on the trains and
acts as an unofficial chaperone to such an extent he is
considered rather indispensible to the train and station
employees.
Admetus
-
Tom; Young Adult; Tabby tom (grey and brown stripes on his
back, head, tail, arms and legs), with white fur on his
chest and belly, and white paws
Alonzo -
Tom; Adult; Brown and Gold with a little white;Third in
line for leadership; Third best wrestler of the Jellicles;
Sometimes considered the third in command after Munkustrap
as he also fights Macavity
Bill Bailey -
Tom; Teen; White, patched with brown and gray; Sometimes
interchangeable with the character of
Tumblebrutus.
Carbucketty -
Tom; Kitten; White with brown splotches everywhere and bits
of black and grey; Brother of Pouncival and Tumblebrutus;
The name was one of T. S. Eliot's ideas for cat names for a
"knockabout cat." Sometimes interchangeable with the
character of Pouncival.
Cassandra -
Queen; Young Adult; Slender, brown and light tan; Second
fastest runner of the queens; Proud, obscure, silent.
Sometimes cynical. But loyal and truthful to the Tribe, and
good friend of Bombalurina; An Abyssinian queen, with a
braided tail. Unique and somewhat
mysterious.
Electra -
Queen; Kitten; reddish brown and black tortie; A tabby
kitten who seems to be friends with Etcetera as well as a
fan of Rum Tum Tugger.
Etcetera -
Queen; Kitten; Mostly white Calico; A happy, energetic
kitten who is a big Rum Tum Tugger fan.
Exotica -
Queen; Young Adult; Dark Brown
George -
Tom; Teen; Brown, Black and White
Genghis -
Tom; Adult; Siamese markings; Captain of own ship; Enemy of
Growltiger; The leader of the crew of Siamese cats who lead
to Growltiger's demise.*
Gilbert -
Tom; Young Adult; brown; First mate to Ghengis; *The leader
of the crew of Siamese cats who lead to Growltiger's
demise.
Jemima -
Queen; Kitten; Black, tinged with deep red, white muzzle;
Sister to Sillabub, hangs out with Tumblebrutus a lot, not
much of a fighter, has a sweet, calming singing voice; A
kitten who is also a Rum Tum Tugger fan and friends with
Electra, Etcetera, and Victoria. Can be sometimes used
interchangeably with Sillabub
Macavity -
Tom; Adult; Ginger and white; Best jumper of the
Jellicle's; Best wrestler of the Jellicles; Mysterious;
cunning; He is the show's only real villain. The character
is a literary allusion to the Sherlock Holmes character
Professor Moriarty
Plato -
Tom; Young Adult; Light grey and brown; Admires Munkustrap
and Alonzo; would like to be useful to the Tribe in this
moment of tension. Shy, not a great chatterer. He does not
have the qualities of a leader, but those of a good
soldier; paired with Victoria at Jellicle Ball.
Pouncival -
Tom; Kitten; Grey and ginger; Brother of Tumblebrutus and
Carbucketty although sometimes a playful tom kitten
interchangeable with Carbucketty.
Rumpus Cat -
Tom; Adult; Dark Grey, almost black; red eyes; Second
highest jumper of the Jellicle toms; A spiky-haired cat
with glowing red eyes, as mentioned in "The Awefull Battle
of the Pekes and the Pollicles," seen as a sort of
superhero figure among the Jellicles. Does not appear in
productions which omit the song "The Awefull Battle of the
Pekes and the Pollicles."
Sillabub -
Queen; Kitten; Yellow and white; Sister of Jemima or
sometimes played as a version of Jemima
Tantomile -
Queen; Adult; brown and red calico; Twin sister to
Coricopat; The name was created by T.S. Eliot for a
"Witch's Cat".
Tumblebrutus -
Tom;Teen; Brown and white, has a chestnut brown patch over
his right eye; Brother to Carbucketty and Pouncival, Likes
to hang out with Jemima and the
"Seacats"
Victor -
Tom; Kitten; black, brown, tan; Brother to
Victoria
Victoria -
Queen; Teen; White, short fur, Sister to Victor; gifted in
dancing. The "official" Jellicle Ball begins with her solo
dance.Paired with Plato at Jellicle Ball.
